Alstom awarded 2.0 billion euro contract to produce 316 modern commuter rail cars
Alstom has been awarded a 2.0 billion euro contract to produce 316 state-of-the-art M-9A commuter rail cars for MTA’s Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad. These new vehicles will replace the oldest models currently in use and feature modern amenities. The contract is expected to create nearly 300 jobs in upstate New York. The new cars will meet the latest cybersecurity standards and be electric multiple units.
