Aneo acquires 130MW wind farm in Sweden, enhancing power production in Nordic region.
Norwegian renewable energy operator Aneo has acquired the 130MW Backhammar wind farm in Sweden from KGAL Investment Management. This move is part of Aneo’s strategy to enhance power production in the Nordic region. The wind farm, equipped with 31 Vestas turbines, has been operational since 2020 and adds 355 GWh to Aneo’s annual production.
Most of the electricity from Backhammar is supplied to an American technology group under a ten-year power purchase agreement. This acquisition will bring 30% of Aneo’s wind power output to SE3, a region with high power consumption needs. Aneo CEO Gunnar Hovland sees this as a step towards a profitable renewable energy portfolio.
The sale of the wind farm comes six years after KGAL acquired it through its ESPF 4 fund. KGAL’s sustainable infrastructure portfolio management head, Andreas Ochsenkühn, highlights the successful implementation of a Buy, Build, Sell strategy. Newsec Energy Transition provided financial advisory services for the transaction, reflecting a solid foundation for the project’s success.
