Connor Blakley, founder of Jams, is launching a modern upgrade to the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The frozen sandwiches aim to compete with Smucker’s Uncrustables and are backed by big names like Alex Morgan and NFL Pro Bowlers.
Jams, developed by 26-year-old Blakley, boasts health-conscious ingredients with no seed oils, artificial dyes, or high fructose corn syrup. Each sandwich contains 10 grams of protein and is slightly larger than Uncrustables.
Walmart will exclusively carry Jams at $5.97 per box, slightly more expensive than Uncrustables at $4.34. The sandwiches are available in strawberry and mixed berry flavors and have been taste-tested over 250 times by Blakley.
While Jams aims to tap into the athlete market, Uncrustables continue to dominate with over a billion dollars in net sales projected by 2026. The success of PB&J sandwiches is attributed to convenience and nostalgia, according to Blakley.
