Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman spoke at the AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas on Dec. 4, 2024. AWS recorded revenue growth of 18% in the second quarter, slightly beating analysts’ estimates. Microsoft and Google are increasing investments in AI, putting pressure on AWS. Microsoft reported Azure revenue exceeding $75 billion in the last fiscal year, while Alphabet’s cloud revenue reached $13.62 billion, a 32% increase. AWS revenue for the quarter was $30.87 billion, representing 18% of Amazon’s revenue. AWS generated $10.2 billion in operating income during the quarter. AWS plans to open a data center region in Chile and announced a partnership with PepsiCo to move workloads to the cloud.
