Azule Energy has made a gas discovery at the Gajajeira-01 exploration well in Block 1/14, offshore Angola. The well, drilled in a water depth of 95m, revealed over 30m of net pay and potential gas volumes exceeding one trillion cubic feet, with 100 million barrels of condensate. Advanced tools ensured safety and accurate drilling.
The discovery in the Lower Congo Basin confirms a working hydrocarbon system, opening new exploration opportunities. Azule Energy, a joint venture between BP and Eni, aims to evaluate the full potential of the Gajajeira-01 well in collaboration with partners Equinor, Sonangol E&P, and Acrep. CEO Adriano Mongini highlights the significance of this gas exploration success for Angola’s energy development.
Azule Energy plans to further assess the Gajajeira-01 discovery and focus on the Lower Oligocene interval LO300 during the ongoing drilling campaign. Additionally, the company has engaged Aker Solutions for engineering, procurement, and construction services under a long-term frame agreement for maintenance and modifications on two FPSO units in Angola. The three-year contract may be extended for two more years.
