Bulgaria partners with Citi to finance nuclear power units at Kozloduy NPP, the country’s largest energy project in decades. Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov finalized talks in New York for units 7 and 8 using Westinghouse’s AP1000 technology. Citi will serve as exclusive coordinator and arranger of export credit, marking its largest nuclear financing project in Central and Eastern Europe. The exact amount of financing was not disclosed. Kozloduy currently has two Soviet-made reactors in operation and plans to have units 7 and 8 ready by 2033. Hyundai Engineering & Construction also received approval to discuss building two new reactors in Bulgaria.
