Cahya Mata Cement has chosen Sinoma Industry Engineering as the EPCC contractor for a new clinker line at its Mambong Integrated Plant in Malaysia. The $159m project will add a 6,000-tonne-per-day clinker line, boosting annual capacity from 900,000t to 1.9 million tonnes with advanced environmental and energy-efficient technologies.

The new clinker line will feature a waste heat recovery system generating 6MW of power and a dust filtration system cutting emissions. It will use high-efficiency equipment to reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions while incorporating locally sourced materials and fuels to decrease reliance on fossil fuels.

The project is expected to create up to 500 jobs during peak construction, benefiting local businesses in Padawan and Kuching. Cahya Mata Cement’s group managing director emphasized the project’s importance in strengthening Sarawak’s cement supply chain and positioning the company as a leading green cement producer in the region.

Since 1974, Cahya Mata Cement has been a significant player in Sarawak’s construction sector, operating three cement grinding plants in Kuching and Bintulu, along with distribution terminals in Sibu and Miri to meet the state’s construction needs effectively.
