European stocks closed lower on tariff concerns and weak economic data, impacting various markets
European stocks closed lower on Friday due to concerns about U.S. tariffs and disappointing regional economic data. The EU is unlikely to reach a comprehensive deal by the July 9 deadline. The pan European Stoxx 600 fell 0.72%, with markets in Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, and Sweden closing weak.
In the UK market, Vodafone Group gained 3% while notable losers included Barratt Redrow, Mondi, and Schroders. In Germany, Siemens and Deutsche Bank ended down 1 to 2.5%. In France, Teleperformance and Publicis Groupe lost 2 to 2.5%.
Germany’s factory orders declined 1.4% in May, while France’s industrial production fell 0.5% in May. UK car sales grew 6.7% in June, with strong growth in battery electric car demand.
