Exxon Mobil is in talks with Trinidad and Tobago to explore deepwater blocks for oil and gas, north of its successful Stabroek block in Guyana. The company plans to produce over 900,000 barrels per day of crude oil this year. Trinidad aims to attract more investment to support its LNG and petrochemical industries. The government is open to negotiating exploration and production areas outside of the ongoing auction, with Exxon potentially acquiring unlicensed ultra deepwater blocks. Moonilal hinted at a major announcement if negotiations are successful.
