Clean energy tax dropped from Senate bill, boosting First Solar and SolarEdge stocks
First Solar (FSLR) jumped 8.5% to $185.03 on July 3, and SolarEdge (SEDG) rallied 16.7% to $27.54, after the Senate excluded a proposed tax on wind and solar projects from Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
The clean energy sector had feared new financial burdens, but the final version of the bill left those out—sparking a sharp relief rally. While the broader package favors fossil fuels, this carveout gave solar stocks a rare boost, with First Solar leading the S&P 500 for the day.
