Ford sales exceed expectations with a 14% jump in second quarter, led by F-Series trucks.

Ford reported a 14.2% increase in sales during the second quarter, totaling 612,095 new vehicles. F-Series trucks had their best second quarter since 2019, with 222,459 sold. Sales of electrified vehicles rose 6.6%, but pure EVs saw a 31.4% drop. Ford sold a record 156,509 EVs and hybrids in the first half of the year.
Industry forecasters predicted a 1.7% to 2% increase in new vehicle sales for the second quarter. President Trump’s 25% tariffs on imported vehicles and parts initially boosted demand, but analysts expect the trend to fade with higher prices. Rival General Motors saw a 7.3% sales increase in the second quarter.
Kia and Hyundai both reported their best-ever first-half sales results, up 8% and 10% from the previous year, respectively. General Motors reported a 7.3% sales increase for the second quarter and a nearly 12% increase for the first half of 2025. Hyundai and Kia also reported strong sales growth for the first half of the year.
