Barocal, a British company, won the Gold Award at the TERA-Award for its solid-state cooling system using barocaloric materials, receiving a prize of US$1 million. The ceremony took place at King’s College, University of Cambridge, marking the first time the TERA-Award was held outside Hong Kong. Barocal’s technology offers up to three times the energy efficiency of traditional systems and eliminates harmful refrigerants.
