FTSE 100 drops 0.3% due to trade tensions and mixed stock performances
U.K. stocks are down as trade tensions rise ahead of the U.S. tariff deadline on August 1. The FTSE 100 is 0.3% lower at 8,795.36. Companies like Mondia, Anglo American Plc., and Schroders are seeing sharp declines, while Vodafone Group is up 3.2%. Huddled Group Plc shares surge over 10% after signing a new agreement with THG Ingenuity. UK car sales in June grew 6.7% from last year, with strong demand for battery electric cars leading to the best June since 2019. Petrol registrations fell 4.2% and diesel volumes gained only 0.2%, with electrified vehicles capturing a 48.5% market share.
