HD Hyundai and H-Line Shipping have signed an MoU to co-develop AI-based autonomous and eco-friendly ship technology. The collaboration aims to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability in various ship operations. Executives from both companies signed the MoU at the HD Hyundai Global R&D Centre in Pangyo.
The agreement involves HD KSOE, HD Hyundai Marine Solution, Avikus, and H-Line Shipping. It focuses on integrating Avikus’ autonomous navigation solution, HD Hyundai Marine Solution’s optimal routing solution, and HD KSOE’s AI-based cargo management system. The goal is to reduce fuel consumption, operational costs, and increase safety and vessel longevity.
H-Line Shipping COO, Ho-Dong Seo, highlighted the importance of AI technology in determining a shipping company’s competitiveness. The collaboration aims to enhance fleet operations’ efficiency and safety by transporting cargo via optimal routes using AI. HD Hyundai and H-Line Shipping aim to gain a competitive edge in the industry.
The partnership between HD Hyundai and H-Line Shipping seeks to address the entire ship lifecycle, from design to maintenance. It aims to meet the growing demand for AI applications in shipping and comply with strict environmental regulations. In addition to the MoU with H-Line Shipping, HD Hyundai has recently signed an agreement with Cochin Shipyard Limited in India. The collaboration will focus on shipbuilding design, procurement support, technical collaboration, and workforce training. It opens opportunities for new shipbuilding orders in India and abroad.
