LS Power has reached an agreement to acquire several U.S. onshore wind farms from a UK-based energy group, adding about 1,700 MW of operating capacity to their portfolio. The deal includes assets from 10 projects and is expected to close by the end of 2025. The acquisition will increase Clearlight Energy’s operating fleet to about 4,300 MW.
The wind farms are located in Indiana, Kansas, South Dakota, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Idaho, providing electricity for over 15 off-takers. The facilities range in gross capacity from 21 MW to 470 MW, with the largest being Flat Ridge 2 in Kansas. The deal is part of LS Power’s mission to develop a cleaner, more reliable, and affordable energy ecosystem.
LS Power CEO Paul Segal emphasized the company’s commitment to solving complex energy problems and improving the world through investments like this acquisition. The deal will allow Clearlight Energy to expand its renewable energy presence and meet the growing energy demand in the U.S. The transaction will transition ownership of the wind farms from bp Wind Energy to LS Power’s Clearlight Energy portfolio.
