Meta Continues Hiring Spree, Poaches Two More AI Researchers from Apple
Meta has hired two senior AI researchers from Apple (AAPL)—Mark Lee and Tom Gunter—as part of its aggressive expansion of its artificial intelligence division, known as Superintelligence Labs.
- Mark Lee has already started at Meta after leaving Apple earlier this week.
- Tom Gunter is expected to follow shortly.
This follows Meta’s recent hiring of Ruoming Pang, who previously led Apple’s foundation models team. All three now report to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is personally leading the company’s push into advanced AI.
The hires highlight Meta’s continued strategy of recruiting top talent from rivals, particularly Apple, Google, and OpenAI, as it builds out teams focused on next-generation general AI systems.
With the competition for AI expertise intensifying across Silicon Valley, these moves reinforce Meta’s position as one of the most aggressive players in the race to lead AI development.
