Natural gas prices rose due to smaller-than-average inventory build and increased electricity output
Aug nat-gas prices rose on Wednesday due to expectations of a smaller-than-average increase in weekly inventories. Forecasts of cooler temperatures in the US are expected to lower nat-gas demand for air conditioning, allowing inventories to rebuild. US electricity output increased by 3.2% y/y, boosting nat-gas demand. Nat-gas inventories are currently 6.6% above their 5-year average.
