Navigator Gas and Amon Maritime have formed a joint venture, Navigator Amon Shipping, to build two new ammonia-fuelled gas carriers. Navigator will own 80% of the JV, aiming to construct two 51,530m3 vessels for $84m each. The ships are set for delivery in June and October 2028, financed through Enova grants and bank loans.
The vessels will operate under long-term charters with a major industry player for five years post-delivery. Amon Maritime’s CEO expressed pride in pioneering ammonia fuel use alongside Navigator. The partnership plans to lead the green shift in shipping with these sustainable vessels. This move aligns with growing demand for eco-friendly transport solutions.
