Memecoins inspired by the deaths of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and rocker Ozzy Osbourne surged in popularity this week. Hulk Hogan was pronounced dead at 71 after a possible cardiac arrest, while Osbourne passed away at 76. Hogan was a famous WWF wrestler, and Osbourne was a legendary heavy metal musician with Black Sabbath.

A Wrapped Ethereum (wETH) token called Hulkmanaia (HULK) spiked over 122,000%, while a coin resembling Osbourne, The Mad Man (OZZY), rose over 16,800%. Osbourne’s passing also led to a surge in the non-fungible token market, with fans rushing to buy his official CryptoBatz collection.

A Solana memecoin, HULKAMANIA (HULK), launched last year, has risen over 2000% in the last 24 hours to trade at $0.0006146. Despite reaching a market cap of over $500,000, it is still far from its peak of $18.8 million after Hogan promoted the token last year.

Memecoins have often followed famous deaths, such as former NFL player OJ Simpson and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Fans of Hogan and Osbourne flooded in tributes this week, praising Hogan as the greatest of all time and Osbourne as a one-of-a-kind rock god.
