Pakistan’s state minister of crypto and blockchain sees the country as a key player in Bitcoin adoption, with 40 million crypto wallets and a young demographic. The government moved to regulate crypto in November 2024, positioning Pakistan as a leader in crypto adoption globally.

Pakistan and El Salvador collaborated on a letter of intent to share knowledge on Bitcoin, digital assets, and energy for crypto mining. The partnership focuses on leveraging technology for national growth, emphasizing cooperation between emerging economies under the IMF program.

Pakistan’s National Crypto Council is working on a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets, licensing exchanges, developing a strategic Bitcoin reserve, launching a stablecoin, and mining Bitcoin with excess energy. The country has up to 10,000 MW of excess energy, leading to plans to allocate 2,000 MW for Bitcoin mining and AI data centers.
