Russia Tightens Oversight on Crypto Mining Equipment
Russia’s Ministry of Energy has created a registry of cryptocurrency mining equipment to regulate and tax operations. Deputy Minister Konyushenko stated the list will help identify high mining activity regions and consumers using electricity for mining. This move follows Russia legalizing crypto mining last year, requiring registration and reporting of digital currency production. Private citizens can mine within set electricity limits, while state-owned Rostec plans to launch a ruble-pegged stablecoin.
