Schneider National boosts cross-border intermodal service
Schneider National has seen significant improvements in cross-border intermodal service by shifting to the Canadian Pacific Kansas City rail line. The Mexico-to-Chicago lane is running three days faster than the industry average of seven days. Schneider is the only carrier offering single-rail intermodal service in and out of Mexico, with daily departures and up to a 12% reduction in transit times. The company aims to move goods smarter, faster, and more securely to benefit customers and consumers. Schneider’s long-term goal is to double the size of its intermodal unit by 2030, with revenue exceeding $1 billion last year. The completion of a second rail bridge over the Rio Grande River at Laredo, Texas has doubled rail capacity, allowing for high-speed imaging inspections, resulting in a 99.98% cross-border security rate. Schneider has also launched a direct intermodal service connecting Mexico and Texas to the Southeast U.S. in collaboration with CPKC. The company’s financial results for the second quarter will be reported on July 31.
