Sensex, Nifty Close Lower Amid Tariff Concerns: How Will India's Markets React?
Indian shares closed lower on Thursday as U.S. President Trump escalated tariff tensions. Despite this, a weaker dollar and falling oil prices helped limit losses. Trump raised tariffs on Brazilian imports to 50% from 10% and sent warning letters to six other countries with new import duties. The S&P/BSE Sensex fell 0.41% while the NSE Nifty dropped 0.47%. Market breadth was weak, with more declining shares. Bharti Airtel and Asian Paints saw declines, while Tech Mahindra, BEL, and Infosys also ended lower.
