The S&P/BSE Sensex was down 0.3 percent, while the NSE Nifty dropped 0.2 percent. Prominent decliners included Bharti Airtel, Infosys, and Bajaj Finance. Avenue Supermarts tumbled after disappointing June quarter results. JSW Paints launched an open offer to acquire stake in Azko Nobell India. Siemens gained on securing orders worth Rs 773 crore from Maha Metro.
