Indian shares closed higher after U.S. official Jamieson Greer stated more negotiations are needed for a trade deal with India. President Trump warned of higher tariffs for countries not negotiating separate deals. The Sensex closed up 0.55% at 81,337.95, and the Nifty closed up 0.57% at 24,821.10. Mid-cap and small-cap indexes also rose. On the BSE, 2,492 shares rose, 1,501 declined, and 161 closed unchanged. Top gainers included Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, and Asian Paints, all up around 2 percent.
