Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol announced a new policy requiring employees to work out of office four days a week, up from three, starting later this year. The policy will include common workdays from Monday to Thursday in Seattle and Toronto support centers and North American regional offices.

Niccol aims to strengthen Starbucks’ in-store experience and culture by increasing in-person interactions and reducing reliance on mobile orders. The new policy emphasizes physical presence for leaders and team managers to build a stronger company culture.

The four-day office work policy will be implemented starting September 29, following the relocation request for vice presidents in February. Starbucks is pushing for a new staffing and service model across North American stores to boost sales growth amid economic challenges.
