Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), majority-owned by US President Donald Trump’s family, files for two AI trademarks for Truth Social platform, aiming to provide reliable information and non-woke news. TMTG’s shares surged 5.5% on Wednesday, outperforming Nasdaq. The company reported a net loss of $31.7 million for Q1 2025 with revenue of $8.8 million.

TMTG previously filed trademarks for cryptocurrency trading, payment service, and ETFs, as well as for a Trump-branded metaverse. Truth Social reportedly has 6.3 million users, a small base compared to Facebook’s 3.1 billion monthly active users in 2023. Emerging technologies in social media platforms face challenges, such as AI algorithms producing controversial results.

Allegations of Facebook suppressing conservative viewpoints have been made by some, including politicians.
