TSX ends flat amid US-Canada trade uncertainty, Canada Composite PMI falls to 44.0

The Canadian stock market ended flat on Friday as uncertainty looms over US-Canada trade deal before the July 9 deadline. The S&P/TSX Composite Index reached a record high of 27,076.75 before closing with a small gain of 1.90 points at 27,036.16. Canada Composite PMI fell to 44.0 in June, indicating a seventh consecutive monthly contraction in private sector businesses. In the US, President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed, adding $3.3 trillion to the national debt. Various trade deals are being negotiated, with Trump preparing for unilateral tariffs on 170 countries. Real Estate sector was the major gainer, while Nuvista Energy and Bitfarms Ltd were notable losers on the market.
