Uber is partnering with Lucid and Nuro for a robotaxi program. 20,000 Lucid EVs with Nuro Driver will be deployed in the next 6 years. Uber will invest $300 million in Lucid and a similar amount in Nuro. The service is expected to launch next year in a major US city.

Lucid had a strong Q2 with the Gravity SUV. Uber and Lucid are top holdings of Saudi Arabia’s PIF, explaining the partnership. Lucid aims to deliver 20,000 vehicles by 2025. Uber’s previous robotaxi operations were halted after an accident in 2018. Tesla is also expanding robotaxi testing in Austin.
