Doubt has been raised about the US government’s Bitcoin holdings, with estimates suggesting they hold 198,012 BTC, but recent information from the Department of Justice revealed only slightly more than 28,988 Bitcoin in custody.
Blockchain analytics firm Arkham claims US government holds at least 198,000 Bitcoin across multiple addresses, with no movement in four months. However, L0la L33tz argues that some Bitcoin trackers may not differentiate between seized and forfeited coins, limiting the ability to sell.
At least 30 US states have introduced Bitcoin strategic reserve legislation, with Arizona, Texas, and New Hampshire passing related laws. Many states have failed to pass such legislation, facing rejection by lawmakers early in the process.
