W. R. Berkley appoints Shadi Albert as president of Vela Insurance Services, succeeding Arthur Davis. Davis transitions to chairman role, guiding during transition. Vela specializes in excess and surplus lines casualty and professional liability insurance. Albert joined Berkley in 2023, previously EVP at major US insurance group.

Davis, with Vela since 2018, started as SVP and chief underwriting officer. W. R. Berkley Corporation CEO praises Art and welcomes Shadi’s leadership. Berkley, established in 1967, operates globally in property casualty insurance. The company reported a 5.6% decline in net income for Q1 2025 but saw an increase in net premiums written.
