Tesla China's Deliveries Surge in June, Outpacing Competitors
In June, Tesla sold 61,484 vehicles in China, a 59.3% increase from May and a 3.75% increase from June 2024. The Model Y was the top seller with 51,253 units sold. In the second quarter of 2025, Tesla sold 128,803 EVs in China, with domestic sales accounting for 67.2%.
BYD set a new sales record with 377,628 passenger vehicles sold globally in June. Li Auto delivered 36,279 vehicles in June, down 24.06% from the previous year. Despite price cuts, BYD’s passenger car sales in China have declined for three consecutive months, raising concerns about its performance in the second half of the year.
Tesla’s stock has underperformed the Automotive-Domestic industry, with shares down 26.3% year to date. The company appears overvalued based on its price/sales ratio. EPS estimates for 2025 and 2026 have both decreased by a penny in the past week. Tesla currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
