Aviva’s group operating profit for H1 2025 rose 22% to £1.07bn, with 66% from “capital-light” businesses. IFRS profit increased to £819m, while both Solvency II and IFRS return on equity improved. An interim dividend per share of 13.1p was declared. Direct Line’s stable performance saw Net Insurance Margin rise by 7.6 percentage points.
Sales in insurance, wealth, and retirement sector grew by 9% to £21.5bn, with General Insurance premiums up 7% to £6.29bn. UK and Ireland general insurance premiums rose 9% to £4.14bn, supported by intermediary channels. UK commercial lines premiums increased by 15% due to pricing actions and acquisitions.
Canadian general insurance premiums grew by 4% to £2.14bn, with 9% growth in personal lines. Aviva’s health segment saw a 14% increase in in-force premiums at £1bn. Protection sales dropped by 16% post consolidation following an acquisition from AIG. Aviva aims for an operating profit of £2bn by 2026 and over £5.8bn in cash remittances between 2024-2026.
