The Canadian market is down on Friday, with materials, energy, and healthcare stocks in negative territory. The S&P/TSX Composite Index is down 0.16% at 21,548.41. Algoma Steel Group, Ivanhoe Mines, and other materials shares are down 3 to 4%. PrairieSky Royalty and other energy stocks are declining 2 to 5%. Healthcare stocks like Tilray Inc and Chartwell Retirement Residences are also down. Consumer staple stock Alimentation Couche-Tard is gaining 2.5%. Technology stocks like BlackBerry and Lightspeed Commerce are up 1.3 to 2.4%. Retail sales in Canada are projected to have dropped by 0.6% in May, according to Statistics Canada. Producer prices increased 1.8% in May.
