Gautam Sharma, CEO of Brevan Howard’s digital assets division, is leaving after five years. The division manages $2 billion in assets and has no plans to fill Sharma’s role. Chris Rayner-Cook is now the chief investment officer. Sharma previously worked at Steadview Capital and McKinsey.

Brevan Howard’s digital asset division has over 10 portfolio managers, 13 investment professionals, and 15 blockchain engineers. Sharma worked with Alan Howard on family crypto investments. Brevan Howard manages over $34 billion in assets and set up its digital division in 2021, gaining 51.3% in 2024.

The crypto industry is hiring for senior positions as traditional finance institutions push into the space. The highest-paying jobs in crypto cover various specialties, with quants in DeFi earning the most. Legal and COOs have high base salaries with equity, while influencers face risks but high incomes.
