China’s rare earth magnet exports hit a six-month high in July, reaching 5,577 metric tons, a 75% increase from June. The recovery follows export control easing after deals with the US and Europe. Germany remains the top destination, with 1,116 tons shipped. US shipments also saw a significant increase.
In the first seven months of 2021, China’s rare earth magnet exports totaled 27,897 tons, with a narrowing annual fall of 15% compared to the first half. The recovery in exports came after Beijing agreed to increase shipments and ease export controls. The US and Europe are key trade partners for these critical minerals.
