Comcast is losing customers at an alarming rate, with 226,000 internet customers lost in the second quarter of 2025, an 88% increase from the previous year. Price hikes and network improvements have angered customers, leading to a mass exodus from the service provider.
Comcast faces intense competition from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, who offer fixed wireless internet at lower prices. The company is struggling to retain customers amid a shifting landscape where more consumers opt for alternative internet services like 5G home internet.
To address the customer exodus, Comcast CEO Michael Cavanagh announced pricing realignment and service improvements. The company is simplifying broadband offers, introducing price lock guarantees, and offering free Xfinity mobile lines to new and existing internet customers to build loyalty and value.
Cavanagh stated that customers are responding positively to the changes, with half of new customers opting for the five-year price guarantee and a 20% increase in customers choosing gig plus speeds. Comcast hopes these measures will help retain customers and boost satisfaction levels in the face of increasing competition.
