Corn futures closed the week with mixed action, as September gained 4 ½ cents and December rose by 6 ¼ cents. The national average Cash Corn price was up 1 cent at $3.70. USDA reported private export sales of 119,769 MT of corn to Costa Rica and 140,452 MT to Spain. ProFarmer pegged the 2025 national yield at 182.7 bpa, down from USDA’s August report. CFTC data showed speculators cutting 31,464 contracts from their net short position. Export Sales data revealed old crop US corn export commitments at 70.505 MMT, and new crop business reaching 16.69 MMT. Corn prices closed at $3.88 1/4 for September, $4.11 1/2 for December, and $4.28 3/4 for March. New Crop Cash was $3.68 1/4.
