Cotton futures closed lower on Friday, with December contracts down 187 points for the week. Spec funds in cotton futures and options increased their net short position by 482 contracts. The Cotlook A Index was down 25 points at 77.95 cents, while ICE cotton stocks remained steady. USDA’s Adjusted World Price fell to 54.52 cents/lb.

On Oct 25, Cotton closed at 64.42, down 119 points. Dec 25 Cotton closed at 66.36, down 89 points. Mar 26 Cotton closed at 67.69, down 91 points. The US dollar index fell to $98.425, and crude oil futures were $2.09/barrel lower. Sales of 176 bales were recorded with an average price of 60.50 cents/lb on Thursday.
