Cotton futures closed lower on Friday, with December contracts gaining 94 points for the week. The US dollar index and crude oil futures were also down. CFTC data showed an increase in managed money net short positions. USDA’s Export Sales data revealed 3.127 million RB in new crop bookings. The Seam reported 2,019 bales sold at auction. ICE cotton stocks decreased by 1,225 bales.
Closing prices for cotton futures were as follows: Oct 25 Cotton closed at 66.1, Dec 25 Cotton closed at 67.54, and Mar 26 Cotton closed at 69.07. Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased to 55.05 cents/lb. These details were reported on August 14.
