Georgia Power, a subsidiary of The Southern Company, and Mitsubishi Power have received the first of three advanced M501JAC combustion turbines for Plant Yates in Coweta County. These turbines will add 1,300 MW of generation capacity by 2027, supporting Georgia’s increasing energy demand. The turbines offer higher efficiency, faster startup times, and future hydrogen fuel adaptability. The project will create 600 construction jobs and 15 permanent positions, highlighting U.S.-based manufacturing. Georgia Power’s investment aligns with its long-term energy plan, enhancing grid reliability and economic growth. SO stock is currently trading at $94.36 on the NYSE.
