New York-based Merchant Investment Management invests in $4.2 billion RIA, Meridian Wealth Management, to aid in adding advisors and assets. The partnership will provide Meridian with resources and access to Merchant’s network of independent advisory and financial services firms, including trust and tax services.

Founded in 2010 by Greg Couch, Lexington-based Meridian has grown to 23 employees and doubled assets under management to $4.2 billion. The RIA is multi-custody with Fidelity, Pershing, and Schwab, focusing on high-net-worth families, institutional investors, and nonprofit organizations.

Merchant, with stakes in 115 firms managing over $250 billion, invests in wealth management adjacent services like trust, tax, and accounting. The firm recently took stakes in business valuation services and partnered with Fin.Link to offer advisors valuations of their practices.
