Transition Industries and Bonatti have signed a heads of agreement for the Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The collaboration aims to create the world’s largest ultra-low carbon chemical production facility, producing 6,130 tonnes of methanol per day. Bonatti will handle detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and more for upgrading port facilities.

The agreement includes managing methanol loading operations for export, methanol transfer pipelines, and a closed-loop water pipeline system for wastewater treatment and recycling. The goal is to minimize environmental impact and protect the Bay of Ohuira, with operations set to begin in 2029 producing green and blue methanol annually.

Transition Industries is working with the International Finance Corporation on the project. Bonatti’s commercial director for the Americas expressed excitement to contribute to decarbonisation and development in Ahome, Sinaloa, and Mexico. The collaboration is seen as a step towards sustainability with a focus on environmental and social responsibility.
