The announcement sent UNH shares soaring in after-hours trading, jumping $29.01, or 10.69%, to $300.50. The investment comes after a challenging period for UnitedHealth, marked by rising medical costs, federal probes, leadership turmoil, and a major cyberattack earlier this year, making the Buffett-backed bet a notable vote of confidence.
