Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer secured its first U.S. sale of E2 jets with a 50-plane deal from Avelo Airlines. The low-cost carrier, known for its focus on smaller cities, announced the “single largest investment” since its launch and plans to enhance customer experience. The new jets are set to start arriving in the first half of 2027, signaling significant growth for Avelo.

Embraer, though smaller compared to Boeing and Airbus, specializes in regional jets for shorter routes. The company has been profitable and its new E2 jets are more fuel-efficient. The E195-E2 can seat up to 132 people in a single-class cabin and 120 in a three-class cabin, offering an efficient option for Avelo’s scheduled service network.

Avelo’s order for 50 E195-E2 planes, with options for 50 more, aims to modernize its fleet and improve customer experience. Despite challenges, such as competition with Airbus A220 family, Avelo is optimistic that the quieter cabins and two-by-two seating configuration of the new jets will appeal to customers. The deal is valued at $4.4 billion at list prices.
