Nyrstar NV has received a decision from the Sanction Committee of the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) regarding an investigation into Nyrstar’s information disclosure on October 30, 2018. The committee confirmed that Nyrstar’s communication on various aspects, including its relationship with Trafigura, solvency position, and EBITDA contribution from Port Pirie redevelopment, was in compliance with the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR). However, the committee found certain aspects of Nyrstar’s communication regarding its liquidity position to be incorrect and misleading. As a result, Nyrstar NV has been fined €80,000 for a breach of market manipulation regulations. The company will further analyze the decision with legal advisors before determining next steps. The committee also acquitted the directors of Nyrstar NV who were in office at the time of the investigation. For more information, visit the company’s website.
