Seed and pesticide maker Corteva is considering splitting into two separate companies to shield itself from potential pesticide-related lawsuits. The Wall Street Journal reported that an announcement could come soon. Corteva was formed in 2018 as part of DowDuPont and became a separate entity in 2019. The company, along with rival Bayer, dominates the U.S. corn and soybean seed market. The move to split may be to avoid lawsuits similar to the one Bayer is facing over its Roundup weedkiller. Corteva shares were up about 30% year-to-date.
