DHL Group’s Post & Parcel Germany division resumes shipping postal packages to the U.S. and Puerto Rico for business customers. This decision follows a four-week suspension due to changes in U.S. customs regulations. Companies can now use DHL Parcel International for U.S.-bound parcels, joining other international postal services that have returned to the U.S.

DHL joins other major international postal services in overhauling data collection and customs processes to comply with new U.S. regulations. Companies impacted by changes in trade policies found guidelines unclear and had little time to prepare. DHL customers can now use the “Postal Delivered Duty Paid (PDDP)” service for goods shipping to the U.S.

Shippers using DHL must provide accurate customs data and pay a 2 Euro ($2.36) fee per shipment for the PDDP service. Additional fees and customs duties will be passed on to business customers without markup. The ad valorem method will be used to calculate customs duties, with German shippers facing a 15 percent tariff.

Private customers are not affected by the new regulations for shipping to the U.S. Packages declared as “gifts” up to $100 are exempt. However, these shipments will be monitored more closely to prevent misuse. DHL Express shipping and importing goods into the U.S. under current customs rates remain unaffected.

DHL eCommerce is certified by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to collect customs duties for low-value shipments entering the U.S. The company recently received approval to merge with last-mile delivery firm Evri in the U.K., rebranding as Evri Premium in 2026. The merger was cleared by the European Commission and the Competition Markets Authority in the U.K.

The combined group will have over 30,000 couriers, 12,000 employees, and 8,000 vehicles. The joint venture was approved as it has minimal activities in the European Economic Area and a limited market position. DHL eCommerce’s recent activities highlight its commitment to providing efficient parcel delivery services.
