Equinox Gold Corp. achieved its first gold pour at the Valentine Gold Mine in Canada ahead of schedule on September 14. The mine is expected to produce between 175,000 and 200,000 ounces of gold annually for the first 12 years of its 14-year reserve life. Equinox Gold aims to become the second-largest Canadian gold producer with both Valentine and Greenstone mines ramping up.
CEO Darren Hall reported that Equinox Gold’s Valentine process plant is progressing well, with mill throughput currently at 47% of the nameplate capacity. The company anticipates the Valentine mine to reach its full capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year in Q2 2026. Once operational, Valentine will be Equinox Gold’s second-largest mine and the largest gold mine in Atlantic Canada.
