European stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the Stoxx 600 climbing 0.9%. The UK’s FTSE 100 surged 1.36%, Germany’s DAX advanced 0.69%, and France’s CAC 40 moved up 1.59%. Energy and mining stocks saw gains. In the UK market, Polymetal International soared 18.5%, while Evraz plunged more than 41%. In Germany, MTU Aero Engines climbed nearly 5.5%, but E.ON shares plunged over 8%. Neste shares zoomed more than 14% after announcing a joint venture with Marathon. UK house prices grew at the fastest pace in eight months, with inflation rising to 12.6%. Eurozone inflation hit a record high of 5.8% in February. German unemployment declined in February, with the jobless rate falling to 5%.
